spacer Space-Based Technologies (SBT) Project:
The Space-Based Technologies (SBT) Project will focus on near and mid-term communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) infrastructure needs of the NAS, while simultaneously providing a transition from today's infrastructure to the long-term transformational CNS architecture of the future. The goal of the SBT Project is to develop communications, navigation, and surveillance technologies, architectures, and systems to improve efficient operations in the surface, terminal, en route, and oceanic domains of the current and future NAS. The SBT products will include a subset of the following: (1) Transitional CNS Architecture Concepts, (2) Global Air/Ground Network, (3) Space-based Surveillance, (4) Oceanic and Remote Area Communications and Surveillance, (5) Multi-function Multi-mode Digital (MMDA) Avionics, (6) VHF Systems Optimization, (7) Terminal Area Communications, (8) Aviation Spectrum Research, (9) Surface Integrated CNS Network, and (10) CNS Technologies. This Project continues through FY2009.
